"Eloise"

Chins are tough little critters which thrive so long as they are fed and looked after carefully.  Good hygiene is the key to preventing most common ailments.

SIGNS THAT SOMETHING MAY BE WRONG:

   LOSS OF APPETITE / WEIGHT

   UNUSUAL LACK OF ALERTNESS

   UNUSUAL DROPPINGS

  UNSTEADINESS

  DISCHARGE FROM EYES, NOSE, EARS

  PANTING, WHEEZING

  TEMPERATURE (WARM OR RED EARS)

  RAW SKIN OR BALD PATCHES

In short, anything unusual about your pet should be dealt with as soon as possible by a vet.  Most of these symptoms can be easily treated if attended to right away.  Reba has been to the vet only once, for a sore patch which developed under her chin. It would have spread very quickly and she would have looked awful, but two or three days of treatment with the cream prescribed by the vet, and her skin cleared and the fur began to grow back.

All in all, they're very sturdy, easy-to-maintain little pets! Just remember, though, that under that chunky-looking body is a fragile little bone structure - HANDLE WITH CARE!
